Abstract

To find the best compromise between production rate and tool life, orthogonal experiments have been carried out to obtain the data of tool life under different cutting parameter conditions. Based on linear regression analysis, an empirical model of tool life was set up and proved to be good for application through verifying experiment tests. The study shows that axial depth of cut has smaller effect on tool life than radial depth of cut, and has provided a basis for cutting parameters optimization and tool life prediction.
