Abstract

The Mental Health Act (2007) places a statutory duty on the NHS to provide age-appropriate accommodation for children and young people requiring inpatient mental health services. Tim McDougall and Sarah Bodley Scott highlight the lack of inpatient adolescent mental health services in England, and make recommendations to improve the safeguarding of young people on adult mental health wards.
