Abstract
The ethanolic extract of the seeds of Uvaria tonkinensis (Annonaceae), collected on Hainan Island, have led to the isolation of a new polyoxygenated cyclohexane derivative tonkinenin A [ 1]. The structure of 1 was deduced from spectroscopic characteristics and the absolute stereochemistry assigned by the O-methylmandelate ester method.
