Engin: (bottom) is an Associate Professor of Education at Ohio State University in Columbus, where she is also Chairperson of the School Psychology Program. As a supervisor and trainer, she requires counseling competencies of her students and models skills for them in the internship program in the schools. A school psychologist with comprehensive experience, she has published extensively in her field. The authors are the co-designers of PSYCHSIM, a multimedia simulation package for preservice and inservice school psychologists. Its purpose is to abstract elements of professional performance that seem most crucial and appear with greatest frequency on the job. Problem situations presented on film, audio-tape, and paper require participants to draw on skills and experience to effect appropriate and relevant behavioral alternatives for problems presented. A second simulator, COSIM, designed for counselors in a similarly reality-oriented format, has recently been completed with a third designer, Susan Gross. Both authors are committed to simulation techniques as a training and research tool and plan to continue their team approach to design and development of simulated materials.Search for more papers by this author Jane N.
