Abstract

The paper describes a method for the reconstruction of quasi-static, non-rotating deformations of plasma surfaces having constant emissivity and presents results of an application of this method to high-beta plasmas during neutral injection in ASDEX. Large poloidal asymmetries are observed in the distribution of the impurity radiation in both the vertical and horizontal planes. These may be explained by the toroidal plasma rotation induced by neutral beam heating.
