Abstract

Long term acceptability of perindopril was evaluated in 856 hypertensive patients (52.9 ± 0.4 years) including 21.3 patients > 60 years. Mean duration of treatment was 21 months (3 days-48 months). In younger (≤ 60 years ) and older patients, adverse events were reported at the same incidence with the higher incidence for cough 6.8 and 7.5 % respectively. Increase in serum creatinine (141–195 μmol/l) was observed in 27 patients including 9 > 60 years. These results show the good acceptability of perindopril in the long term treatment of hypertension.
