Abstract
Abstract The need for software which tolerates errors in user input is discussed and a particular piece of software is described which accepts inadequacies and extreme abbreviations in keywords stored in easily prepared dictionary files. Though its previous application has been in the recognition of user-defined commands, evaluation shows that it can be easily adapted to other more general applications, provided that the hardware and software environment of the installation is compatible.
