Abstract

Abstract
Thrombophlebitis of superficial breast veins was described by Henri Mondor in 1939 and became known as Mondor's disease. Although an exact physiologic mechanism is not known, some suspected causes of Mondor's disease include surgical trauma and radiation therapy. The tolerability of radiation therapy in a patient with pre-existing Mondor's disease has not been well documented. In this case report, we describe a patient who developed Mondor's disease after biopsy and then recurred after lumpectomy. Subsequent radiation therapy was well tolerated without Mondor's disease exacerbation. Despite pre-existing Mondor's disease, whole breast hypofractionated radiation therapy did not exacerbate or hinder recovery from Mondor's disease in this patient.
