Abstract

The goal of the fusion research is the realization of the fusion power plant, which produces the fusion energy in a useful form (the electricity and/or the hydrogen). Tokamak is the leading concept of the magnetic confinement fusion. The concepts of fusion power stations based on tokamak concept is introduced in this chapter, especially with continuous operation, called the Steady State Tokamak Reactor (SSTR). After the introduction of fusion reaction in Sect. 1.1, tokamak fusion reactor designs based on pulsed and steady state operations are introduced in Sect. 1.2. Basic design features of the SSTR are introduced in Sects. 1.3 and 1.4. Power balance of the tokamak fusion reactor is introduced in Sect. 1.5. Salon 1-1 and 1-2 gives some historical activities such as International school of plasma physics and IAEA fusion energy conferences.
