Abstract

Recent experiments suggest that the reversal of magnetic shear in the central region of a tokamak plasma has beneficial effects on plasma transport. In this Letter, it is shown that a hollow toroidal current density distribution is not a necessary condition for the existence of tokamak equilibria with reversed magnetic shear.
