Abstract
A 15-yr-old non-verbal and blind retarded boy who had been incontinent since birth was toilet trained by operant conditioning procedures. Tactile stimulation of the boy's head and ears was found to be the most effective method of reinforcement. Elimination using conventional toilet facilities was established and the boy's frequency of soiling his clothes was decreased. This training was effectively maintained through a period of severe intestinal infection and was still in existence after a 1-yr follow-up period.
