Tobaccoless pan masala as risk factor for oral precancer

Abstract

Introduction: Habit of substance abuse (tobacco and tobaccoless) is most often associated with oral precancer and cancer. This study was planned with the objectives to find the prevalence of habit of substance abuse viz tobacco (smoking/smokeless), tobaccoless pan masala and areca nut products, in the rural and urban population and evaluate prevalence of oral precancer amongst people with habit of substance abuse, as well as among non-users of tobaccoless pan masala/tobacco/areca nut.
