Abstract
The Graft Patency Between No-Touch Vein Harvesting Technique and Conventional Approach in Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (PATENCY) trial, a large multicenter study, compared the no-touch (NT) technique with conventional vein harvesting in coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. The study included 2655 patients and assessed graft patency at 3months and 1year using computed tomography (CT) angiography. The NT group showed a significantly lower occlusion rate at 3months (2.8% vs. 4.8%) as well as at 1year (3.7% vs. 6.5%). Recurrence of angina was also lower in the NT group at 1year. The study provides robust evidence supporting the NT technique's efficacy in improving vein graft patency.
