Abstract

A system of linear equations has been obtained which govern the yields of velocity and of the scalar passive impurity in a turbulent incompressible liquid flow. This system is considered as a simple model characterizing the large-scale coherent structures which have been found experimentally in many turbulent flows. The means to account for these structures when describing the mechanism of mixing are discussed.
