Abstract
Some insufficiently studied aspects of proper ferroelectric phase transitions are considered. These are the role played by higher-degree terms of the expansion of a thermodynamic potential in polarization, the universal temperature dependences of physical quantities represented in terms of dimensionless variables, the soft mode (which, along with other modes, gives the contribution to polarization) and the polarization considered as an order parameter, and also the phase transition from piezoelectric phases.
