Abstract

The aim of the research. The article provides a brief analysis of sources known to the author on the history of the participation of Jews in the revolutionary movement in the Russian Empire. Research methods. The methods of modern source study were used, with the help of which the informational possibilities of unpublished and published documents were established, and their assessment was given in terms of their scientific significance for studying the place and role of Jews in the history of the revolutionary movement in the Russian Empire. Scientific novelty. For the first time in modern Ukrainian historiography, the main types of historical sources on this topic of research are presented. In particular, these are materials of gendarme administrations, literature of revolutionary organizations, personal correspondence, and separate studies of civil servants, revolutionary leaders, and publicists. Conclusion. A hypothesis was formulated that even a brief review of the documentary base on the history of the participation of Jews in the Russian revolutionary movement suggests that they are actively participating in it. The largest number of historical documents on this subject is stored in the funds of the State Archives of the Russian Federation, the Russian Archives of Socio-Political History, the Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine (Kiev). A certain part of this documents primarily from the Russian archives has already been published.
