Abstract

Abstract In this article I explore some ideas that are central to my work, which is based in the Discipline of Authentic Movement, Janet Adler’s approach to the practice of Authentic Movement. A short introduction to the Discipline of Authentic Movement is followed by some of the many dimensions of sounds and sounding. Particular consideration is given to the ever-present question of sounding in relation to the group. Examples are included of participants’ experiences as movers and witnesses, as well as considerations from the teacher’s point of view to enable helpful structures regarding group work. Special groups are described for working with voice and sounding, as one way of practising the Discipline of Authentic Movement.
