Abstract

Background: Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain in adults. It is very painful and disabling condition which limits activities of daily living. Plantar fasciitis in literal means “Inflammation of Plantar Fascia” but instead it is accumulation of damaged collagen fibers. As a part of healing process new collagen fibers are laid down, which grow in disorganized random manner forming scar tissue. Eccentric exercises are the gradual loading of the muscles in lengthened position. In plantar fasciitis, eccentric exercises aim to normalize the alignment of collagen fibers and breaks down disordered fibers.
