Abstract

Concrete is a very important material with cement, water, aggregate and admixture as contents. Due to increasing pollution and demand of concrete, its production should be environmental friendly. In this study, we emphasize on environment friendly concrete. The proportion of silica fume was as follows: add 3%–15% in interval of 3% by weight of cement in concrete and fly ash was add 5%–25% in interval of 5% by total weight of sand in concrete with 1% of super-plasticizer. This paper checks the performance of concrete mixture in terms of slump, density, and mechanical properties like compressive strength of cube, flexural strength of beam, and splitting tensile strength of cylinder. These concrete specimens were put in curing tank under normal atmospheric temperature. On the basis of the results, the maximum compressive, flexural and splitting tensile strength was achieved at 15% of replacement of cement by silica fume and 25% of replacement of sand by fly ash. The result of all mixes of concrete compared to normal concrete was better, and its use should be promoted for better performance as well as for environmental friendly concrete.
