Abstract

High strain rate rolling (HSRR) and artificial aging are conducted to improve mechanical properties and bio-corrosion resistance of Mg-4Zn alloy by modifying grain size and precipitates. The under-aged state is the most corrosion resistant among four states in single and double aging. Bio-corrosion resistance of the as-rolled alloy can be improved by double aging of 70 °C × 10 h + 160 °C × 2 h, resulting from stress relief and uniformly distributed nano-scale G.P. zones and β1′ precipitates.
