Abstract

Background: Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a disorder characterized by elevated intracranial pressure(ICP) without an identifiable etiology. While, Headache, double vision and subsequently visual loss are the common symptoms, it is probably the commonest neurological cause of reversible blindness. The pathogenesis of idiopathic intracranial hypertension(IIH) remains unclear and as such it remains a diagnosis of exclusion. Aim: To measure the levels of pro and anti- inflammatory cytokines in serum and CSF of patients with IIH and study the association between inflammatory cytokines with neurological, ophthalmological and radiological profile of these patients.
