Abstract

A new methodology has been developed for history matching seismic impedances from 3D reservoir fluid flow and petro-elastic simulations with those obtained by 4D (time-lapse) seismic inversion. The objective is to build predictive flow models directly constrained by the geological (borehole) and geophysical (seismic) information. To reduce differences between simulation and observation, an optimization process updates a set of chosen uncertain model parameters to at least obtain an optimal model that provides simulation results closer to the measured data.In the frame of the CO2ReMoVe European project, this methodology was applied on the Utsira sand formation where CO2 is stored at Sleipner.
