Abstract

The Tm3+/Tb3+/Eu3+ tri-doped borate glasses were fabricated by melt quenching method, and the structure, spectral characteristics and illuminant behaviors were characterized by XRD and fluorescence spectrophotometer. Through the measurement of photoluminescence spectrum and fluorescence decay lifetime, the fluorescence decay of Tm3+ at 452 nm and Tb3+ at 542 nm shows a faster trend, which confirms the energy conversion process of Tb3+→Eu3+ and Tm3+→Eu3+. The color temperature 5615.51K and color coordinate (0.3295, 0.3566) of the 0.5Tm3+/1.0Tb3+/0.5Eu3+ (mol%) tri-doped glass sample are close to the standard white light color temperature 5454.12K and its color coordinate (0.3333, 0.3333). It is expected that it will become a candidate material for white LED and light-emitting display, and has broad prospects.
