Abstract

The characteristics of the new thermoluminescence (TL) imaging system have been investigated. The system consists of a TL sheet, its holder with a temperature controller and a two-dimensional photon counter. The photon counter has the highest sensitivity in imaging devices and the wide dynamic range has been expected for the imaging system. The TL images of the 226Ra gamma-ray irradiation-dose distribution and the glow histograms have been obtained in the experiments. The new high-sensitivity TL imaging system has been developed in the present work. From the experimental results for the response of the TL sheet to gamma rays the fading effect has been discussed.
