Abstract

Crystal guava is a popular fruit consumed and developed in Indonesia, this fruit has a high vitamin C content and is widely liked. Consumer demand for crystal guava is getting higher. One of the main obstacles in the cultivation of crystal guava is the attack of fruit fly pests, fruit fly attacks can reduce productivity up to 100 percent. The most effective way to control fruit flies is to do fruit bagging since childhood. The purpose of this study was to determine the most appropriate time to do bagging so that guava crystals are safe from fruit fly attacks and to find out the types of fruit flies in Karanganyar. with purposive sampling, namely guava fruit that is 3 weeks old after blooming, with variations in bagging time at 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 weeks as well as controls. Observations of fruit fly attacks were carried out periodically and shortly after harvest. The results showed that bagging time had an effect on the intensity of fruit fly attacks. To obtain quality crystal guava, the best time to do the extraction is on the 5th week after the guava flowers bloom. Based on the results of the identification of fruit fly species that attack crystal guava in Karanganyar is Bactrocerra dorsalis.
