Copyright: Fraunhofer Institute for Microengineering and Microsystems IMM Organic electrochemistry is a more and more emerging technology for the environment-friendly production of chemical compounds driven by the search for ”green” synthesis routes, the emergence of novel synthesis strategies and the ambition of for a direct utilization of sustainable electric energy. Microstructured electrochemical reactors have special advantages over conventional ones helping to address still existing challenges. Moreover, there is a request for flexible reactor concepts. So, a novel flexible and scaleable electrochemical microreactor has been designed, realized, and validated by application to three different representative electrosyntheses: synthesis of tailor-made mixtures of paraffins by Kolbe electrolysis, cation flow method, and synthesis of peroxodicarbonate.
