Abstract

Abstract The catalysts composed of titanocene dichloride (Cp 2 TiCl 2 ) and Lewis base were developed to catalyze the coupling reaction of epoxides and CO 2 under mild conditions to generate the relevant cyclic carbonates. The effects of reaction variables on the catalytic performance were studied in detail and indicated an optimized reaction temperature of 150 °C, solvent tetrahydrofuran (THF) and tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as Lewis base. Under the optimized reaction condition, styrene carbonate was obtained in 98.5% yield within 45 min.
