Abstract
There is ample reason why students should take from their study of mathematics pleasant memories, a sincere appreciation of the beauty and worth of the subject, and an interest that may enrich their leisure and provide recreation in the years ahead of them. For some, mathematics may become a means by which the mysteries and beauties of the universe are unfolded. To build an appreciation of mathematics is an appropriate goal in the early study of arithmetic as well as in the study of later courses.
