Abstract

This paper examines the meta- theoretical conceptualization made around the violence of The Time of the Hero (1963), as when referring to its explicit and implicit forms, its development in family and sexual spheres, its articulation from racism, its criticism through social, sociopolitical, and military denunciation. It also analyzes identification as an element of barbarism that is in dispute with the civilizing process. Simultaneously, a hermeneutical work has been incorporated based on the inclusion of the proposals elaborated by literary criticism. These have been extracted, confronted, schematized and taken into discussion. In this sense, Hans-Georg Gadamer’s approach in his book Truth and Method (1960) is validated by the critical function of an interpreter when this person corroborates a set of ideas regarding an object of study. The purpose of this work is to systematize the variants of the violence, supported by the registered literary research. Therefore, a theoretical and hermeneutical panorama is erected based on the novel of Mario Vargas Llosa.
