Abstract

ABSTRACTThe synergistic effect of TiO2 nanotubes as an efficient nano-catalyst and sonication as a green energy source was investigated for the synthesis of azo-linked xanthene derivatives via the eco-friendly multi-component condensation of azo-linked 4-hydroxybenzaldehydes and dimedone. The objective was to combine two active moieties, such as azo dyes and xanthenes, into one molecule for the generation of compounds with potential for improved luminescence, biological and pharmacological properties. The current method has advantages such as simple experimental procedure, green conditions, utilization of reusable nano-catalyst and good to excellent yield of products.
