Abstract

Evaluating the nuclear properties for the detection of different isotopes of tin revealed117mSn (13.6 d half life and 158.44 keV gamma-ray) to be the most sensitive for a 12 h irradiation and 8 d decay period. Counting of the extracted tin samples with a Compton suppression spectrometer was superior to normal gamma counting by a factor of about 3.5.
