Abstract

The metamaterial perfect lens with DPS/DNS/DPS structure is experimentally realized by using transmission line approach. We studied the properties of metamaterial perfect lens using the time-domain method with a measurement experiment system. It is shown that the focus of the metamaterial lenses can surpassing the diffraction constraint, and the focal spot in the second DPS region has a maximum beam width, 0.34λ, under half of a guide wavelength. When a Gaussian modulated waveform is traveling in the metamaterial lens, the group velocity in the double positive region is larger than that in the double negative one.
