Abstract
This is the third article in a series on the key components of the Long Term 1 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT1). The first article (August 2002) addressed key provisions of the rule. The second article (October 2002), discussed the necessary components of a disinfection profile. This article discusses developing the profile, plotting the disinfection profile, and identifying the disinfection benchmarks as they apply to public water systems that use surface water or groundwater under the direct influence of surface water and serve fewer than 10,000 people.
