Abstract

This paper proposes time synchronization and an encoding technology for controlling the gate signals of a contactless power transfer system. Contactless bi-directional power transfer is controlled using 50-Mbps near field electromagnetic coupling communication that has low jitter and a phase-shift power transfer circuit. A prototype is tested to validate the performance of the proposed control operation. Relatively low jitter is detected, and efficiencies of 93.6% at ±3.3kW, 94.8% at ±1.8kW, 92.3% at ±4.0kW are achieved between 300-V systems with a 2-mm gapped .
