Abstract

A simple, easy to implement technique is presented that can significantly reduce the time sidelobes of the binary pulse compression codes. It is revealed that the peak sidelobe level (PSL) can be drastically reduced by the new technique compared with the conventional binary codes when the compression ratio is from about 5 to 16. Furthermore, the signal-to-noise ratio after compression, the appropriate IF bandwidth and the Doppler tolerance for the new technique are estimated by simulation.
