Abstract

The decentralized energy generation is a concept that is gaining wide acceptance due to its many advantages and is predicted to play an important role in the near future. It could be an answer to find a reliable and clean way to explore the locally available renewable energy sources. For the use of renewable energy sources to surpass the conventional energy sources, it has to overcome many limitations. Compared to the conventional energy sources, renewable energy sources are less controllable, provide varying power and voltage due to many factors. But the future looks bright for renewable energy source, like the development of Maximum power point trackers(MPPT) in Solar Photovoltaic system to maximize the power generated. To handle the problems due to variable power and voltage from renewable sources, using a compatible inverter in between source and supply is a viable solution. The intention of this paper is to present a time shared buck and boost converter based H-bridge inverter for Grid tied and Standalone applications, which is well suited for renewable energy systems. The proposed Inverter can work in a wide range of input DC voltages. It can be implemented as standalone as well as grid connected with simple control techniques. The simulation results have shown that the inverter has good control performance with high quality of power output.
