Abstract

Prediction of electricity energy consumption is exceedingly essential to planning and managing electricity system in developing countries. Electricity consumption influences by demographic and macroeconomic indicators, for example population growth and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The study in this article conducted using one of the most popular time series models, namely Vector Autoregressive Model (VAR). VAR used to take into account the relationship between electricity demand, population number and GDP in Bangka Belitung Province. We analyze the data for the thirdteen-year period from 2007 to 2020 and predicted the results using statistics sotware Eviews. VAR model shows that the increasing population growth from year to year in Bangka Belitung Province, the level of electricity consumption will also increase. Furthermore, GDP shows an up and down trend but does not have a significant effect on the increase in electricity consumption in Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia.
