Abstract

In this paper, a novel time reversal imaging (TRI) algorithm for damage detection in concrete is presented. The standard time reversal imaging method typically suffers from performance degradation when the echo signals are interfered by strong noise. The proposed method is developed to address the aforementioned issues. First, the echo signals are time reversed and rebroadcasted from each receiver's location. Then, the cross-correlation function of the time reversed signal and the probing signal is calculated. Finally, the value of the cross-correlation function is used to construct the imaging map. Since the probing signals are irrelevant to the noise, the proposal method can effectively suppress noise. A numerical experiment was taken. The results indicate that the performance of the proposed method is superior to that of the standard Time Reversal imaging method under low SNR condition.
