Abstract

A stripline gated microchannel plate framing camera is used as a detector in a crystal spectrometer. Typical 10 ns time gates are fast enough to record the evolution of both heating and expansion of Z pinches. By introducing spatially imaging cross slits, an x-ray spectrum from a Z pinch has been simultaneously space and time resolved.
