Abstract
Previous studies, both experimental [1,2,3] and theoretical [4], of the ten 2p levels (Paschen notation) of neon have yielded conflicting results with regard to lifetimes and coherence-destruction cross sections. In this study we aim to improve on and extend the previous measurements by using the technque of pulsed tunable dye laser excitation of neon atoms in a mild discharge.
