Abstract

A circuit to perform time-resolved Langmuir probe measurements in low-pressure gas discharges is described. The condition to be fulfilled is that the plasma variations must be repetitive with a constant frequency of at least about 100 Hz. The second derivative is approximated by the second differences of the successive measuring points of the current-voltage probe characteristic. These second differences are obtained directly with a time resolution of 1 mu s.
