Abstract

X-ray pinhole images are formed on microchannel plate striplines to time-resolve Z-pinch emissions. Applications include a study of Z-pinch linearity necessary for x-ray lasers, the evolution of hot spots, and a study of Z-pinch heating mechanisms. In particular, multiple pinholes per strip with different filters allow the spatial and temporal variation of different temperature regions to be studied.
