Abstract

This chapter considers the role of time management in enhancing workplace happiness. In a contemporary society where many employees view workplace happiness as an impossible dream, mission-driven organizations continuously strive to enhance their success in recruiting, motivating, empowering, and retaining employees. Their leaders recognize the role that workplace happiness can play in organizational success, and that an organizational culture that supports workplace happiness can be realized. While they have at their disposal a variety of techniques that can prove instrumental in fostering workplace happiness, astute leaders recognize the role of effective time management in fostering workplace happiness. They become students of both workplace happiness and time management as they seek to discover ways in which organizations can enhance workplace happiness through effective time management. This chapter considers workplace happiness in modern society and why workplace happiness is important to both employees and their organizations. The challenges to workplace happiness are discussed, along with ways in which an organization and its employees can collaboratively enhance workplace happiness. The role and application of time management in engaging employees, enhancing their job satisfaction, and making workplace happiness a reality is emphasized.
