Abstract

This paper describes a research program at the Australian Resources Research Centre to establish and use an analog model of a turbidite channel reservoir to investigate issues with reservoir simulations and time-lapse seismic monitoring of these complex fields. The project goal is to gain a better understanding of issues relating to uncertainty in reservoir simulations of channelised fields and their seismic expression. The results demonstrate the potential of using carefully scaled analog models to reproduce realistic reservoir phenomena in a controlled laboratory environment for integrated reservoir engineering and time-lapse seismic research.
