Abstract

A low-cost experimental method based on the measurement of the Laplace transform of the time-interval probability has been applied to a scattering experiment in which the spectrum of the scattered light is Lorentzian (monodisperse solution of spherical macromolecules) and the intensity of the detected light is low (less than 1 photon per coherence time). The linewidth of the spectrum and its corresponding experimental error have been obtained. A comparison with the conventional method of photon-correlation spectroscopy has been made for the same experimental conditions.
