Abstract

We suggest time-frequency attributes based on the complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition method. This technique consists of decomposing a signal into intrinsic oscillatory modes, called intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Applied to Algerian seismic sections, it provides new instantaneous Hilbert spectral amplitude attributes, computed from the resulting IMFs, underlining subtle geologic anomalies (possible presence of gas) that cannot be inferred by the conventional attributes.
