Abstract

The transmission of a normally incident plane acoustic pulse by a dense thin film is analyzed theoretically in the time domain. The analogy with the RC low-pass filter is noted. Experimental measurements of incident and transmitted acoustic pulses are presented and close agreement with the predictions of the time-domain analysis is obtained. The RC filter analogy is also demonstrated experimentally.
