Abstract
We present a new calculation of the time dependent wave function resulting from the passage of a monoenergetic (plane wave) neutron beam through a chopper consisting of a slit with time dependent width, taking into account the spatial diffraction from the time-dependent slit. The results are expected to have a greater range of validity than those obtained previously.
