Abstract

Time dependent aerosol particle deposition due to gravitational settling is examined for steady laminar flow in ducts of different cross sections and flow profiles. Analytic and some numerical calculations based on the analysis of limiting particle trajectories are used to determine the deposition efficiencies and penetrations as functions of duct length and time. Both efficiencies and penetrations are found to be strongly time dependent.
