Abstract

A set of rate equations describing condensation of a gas is derived. These equations are solved numerically for several combinations of intermolecular bonding functions, temperature, initial saturation ratio, and condensation regime. The rates of condensation are found to decrease to a minimum and then to accelerate. The minimum rates correspond to the steady state rates predicted by a simplified version of nucleation theory.
